Local Guide & Founder — Junglebooked Sumatra

Growing up near the jungles of North Sumatra, Anca (also known as Erdi) developed a deep respect for nature, wildlife, and the local communities. After years of guiding international travelers, he founded Junglebooked Sumatra to offer authentic, ethical travel experiences that connect visitors with the real Sumatra.

As an independent tour guide and travel partner, Anca focuses on creating personal journeys — not mass tourism. From tracking orangutans at sunrise to discovering the best local food in Medan, every itinerary is carefully designed to match what travelers want to experience.

Since 2011, Anca has also been running food tours in Medan together with Adam Gottschalk from the OTR Food & History YouTube channel, sharing the stories and flavors of the city through local cuisine.

Like many small travel businesses, Junglebooked faced difficult times during the COVID-19 pandemic — but with the support of travelers and the community, the journey continues stronger than ever.
